Telkom University Collaboration with Industry for Entrepreneurship Development

 

Telkom University (Tel-U) has been actively engaging in various initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among its students and contributing significantly to the national economy through innovative collaborations with industry partners. These endeavors reflect the university's commitment to becoming a Global Entrepreneurial University by 2028, as outlined in its vision statement.

One notable example of these collaborations is the partnership between Tel-U and Tokopedia. Through the "Collaborative Industrial Class," Tel-U aims to equip students with practical skills in e-commerce, thereby supporting Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in leveraging digital platforms for business expansion. This initiative not only enhances student engagement but also fosters closer ties between academia and industry, ultimately driving technological advancements and economic growth.

Another significant collaboration involves Tel-U working alongside MDI Ventures, a subsidiary of the Telkom Group focused on investing in startup companies. The memorandum of understanding signed between the two entities seeks to establish a robust digital ecosystem, facilitating knowledge transfer between universities and industries. This alliance aims to boost the number of startups in Bandung Techno Park (BTP), further solidifying Tel-U's role as a catalyst for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Moreover, Tel-U continues to strengthen its position as a leader in industrial-academic partnerships through events like the annual Industrial Gathering. This year's gathering, themed "Bridging Innovation: Empowering Research Downstream through Industry-University Collaboration," brought together representatives from fifty-six industries and twenty-nine centers of excellence. The event facilitated discussions on pressing issues faced by industries, aiming to generate solutions through collaborative research projects. Keynote speaker Priyadi Arie Nugroho emphasized the importance of using machine learning and big data integration in advanced manufacturing processes, highlighting trends expected in future industries.

Additionally, Tel-U's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship extends into educational programs designed specifically to nurture entrepreneurial mindsets among its students. Courses in entrepreneurship are integrated into the curriculum, ensuring that graduates possess both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for starting or managing businesses effectively.
